Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
Egg prices are surging due to a severe outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), which has led to the loss of over 30 million egg-laying hens in just 30 days. This has driven wholesale egg prices to record highs, more than triple compared to the same time last year. The United Egg Producers (UEP), along with federal officials and industry stakeholders, discussed strategies to address the crisis. Their priorities include emergency relief funds, stricter biosecurity, and faster vaccine development. Prices are expected to stay high through the first half of the year as producers work to restore hen populations. The Fresh Division is collaborating with suppliers and distributors to support clients with local egg sourcing.

Thanks,
Ole Tyme Produce
