Broccoli and Cauliflower

Broccoli and Cauliflower

Friday, Oct. 25th, 2024

Dear Ole Tyme Customers:

Broccoli and cauliflower supplies are becoming limited again in Salinas and Santa Maria as we transition seasons. Recent warmer weather in the Salinas Valley has accelerated crop development, but harvest crews are facing challenges from insect pressure and issues like pin rot, hollow core, and occasional mechanical damage. Suppliers are harvesting from fields that weren't fully ready, leading to a supply gap. Similarly, Mexico's supplies are tight due to recent warm weather and storms.

Expectations:

  • The entire industry is likely to experience tight supplies of both broccoli and cauliflower (including florets) until Yuma production ramps up in mid-November.
  • Suppliers will be monitoring averages to manage this supply gap.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your Sales Representative.

Thanks,
