Bell Peppers
Bell Peppers
Fri, Mar 20th, 2026
Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
Bell pepper supplies remain extremely tight due to ongoing weather challenges in Mexico and recent freeze damage in Florida. Markets are elevated, and pricing is expected to stay high through mid-to-late April as Florida recovers and California transitions into its Coachella season.
Green Bell Peppers
- Mexico: Production remains light due to heat and insect pressure, with larger sizes especially limited
- Florida: Supplies are well below last year, with continued heavy grading and mostly choice-grade availability. New crop expected in April
- California: Coachella season anticipated to begin mid-April, running through mid-June
- Market: Prices remain very high, with volatility expected into mid-April
Red & Colored Bell Peppers
- Mexico: Supplies are tight due to reduced harvest schedules from recent holidays, ongoing heat, and prior early harvesting. Quality is fair, with some color concern.
- Growers are expected to see further supply reductions after diverting immature red fields to support green bell demand
- Florida: Availability remains extremely limited and is being offered on a day-to-day basis
- Market: Prices are elevated through early April, with potential for slight easing, though overall conditions remain firm
