Crop Update

Wed, April 9th, 2025

Dear Ole Tyme Customers:

Warm weather across the Southwest is speeding up seasonal transitions, impacting both quality and availability in some regions. Desert growing areas are winding down, and growers are seeing challenges with heat stress and insect pressure. Meanwhile, harvests in Salinas, Santa Maria, and Oxnard are ramping up with better quality reported.

Highlights:

  • Quality concerns in desert regions (shelf life, texture, discoloration).
  • Pest pressure (gnats, small flies) remains high in warmer areas.
  • Salinas and surrounding regions are seeing improved harvest conditions.
  • Tariff update: No new tariffs on produce from Canada and Mexico under USMCA; however, items from Central America may be affected.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your Sales Representative.

Thanks,

Ole Tyme Produce
