Crop Update
Crop Update
Wed, June 18th, 2025
Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
Hurricane Erick has formed off southern Mexico and is expected to make landfall as a major hurricane near Oaxaca and Guerrero by early Thursday, bringing heavy rain to already saturated regions. This could cause further damage to crops like iceberg and romaine. After landfall, Erick will weaken as it moves inland toward Michoacan, Colima, and Jalisco. Crop impacts will depend on the storm’s path and strength, with assessments to follow post-storm.
Meanwhile, California continues to experience fluctuating temperatures and marine layers. Crops are mostly in good condition, though disease and insect pressure are increasing. Recent wet weather across the U.S. has affected yields and quality. Reduced production in Mexico is expected to drive higher demand for California-grown crops in the coming weeks.
Updates will follow as more storm impact details emerge.
