Dear Ole Tyme Customers:

A widespread, moderate-to-heavy ice formation on lettuce is expected across all desert-growing regions in Arizona and California throughout this week.

Expectations:

Harvesting delays of three to four hours have already been reported, with additional loading delays anticipated this week.
This severe freeze event is likely to have long-term effects on the quality of many desert row crops. Lettuce and other delicate leafy products are particularly susceptible to freeze-related quality and shelf-life issues.
Almost all crops in the field are expected to experience defects such as fringe burn and tip burn, which could impact both quality and shelf life.
Additionally, plant growth will be affected as ground temperatures continue to fall throughout the week.

We recommend closely monitoring inventories and adjusting to sales forecasts to account for these conditions.
