Mexico Logistics Disruptions
Mexico Logistics Disruptions
Mon, Feb 23rd, 2026
Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
A February 22 Mexican military operation that resulted in the death of a major cartel leader has sparked widespread retaliatory violence. Roadblocks, highway closures, and vehicle burnings are occurring across multiple states, forcing carriers to reroute through longer, less efficient corridors. These conditions are tightening refrigerated capacity and driving transportation costs higher.
Key Supply Chain Impacts
- Extensive roadblocks and border congestion are causing significant delays for perishable exports
- Limited availability of refrigerated units is pushing freight rates upward and complicating transit planning
- High uncertainty persists; no clear timeline for stabilization, with continued volatility and potential gaps in product arrivals expected
Product-Specific Updates
- Tomatoes & Peppers: Heavy transit delays are further constraining already tight supplies
- Avocados, Mangos, Limes: The next 12–24 hours are critical to determine whether movement resumes or restrictions intensify, with limes at particular risk
- Berries: Anticipated to experience disruptions as conditions continue
We are closely monitoring the situation with growers, carriers, and logistics partners.
