Weather Update

Tues, July 9th, 2024

Dear Ole Tyme Customers:

A strong high-pressure ridge out west will remain locked in place through the week. Excessive Heat Warnings, Watches and Advisories are currently in effect across California, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada along with western Utah and Arizona. Numerous record highs are expected across these areas with temperatures anywhere from 10-30 degrees above average as early morning lows are also expected to set records across large portions of the west. The duration of this heat wave is very concerning for growers across the various regions.

Many crops are in the line of fire because of these numerous weather events this week. From upcoming apple, onion and potato harvests in the northwest to regional production across the Midwest and Eastern Seaboard to all crops in California and let us not forget Mexico which has also been dealing with hot temperatures for some time now. The impact of these events along with previous weather patterns will affect current and upcoming supplies over the next few weeks at a minimum as growers assess damage in the groves and fields. We will continue to monitor the numerous growing regions and weather events and keep you up to date as we collect more information.
