Yuma Growing Conditions

Thus, Feb 26th, 2026

Dear Ole Tyme Customers:

Extreme heat continues across the Yuma growing region, with daytime temperatures holding in the upper 90s through Sunday. While the warm conditions are accelerating some crop development, they are also creating highly favorable conditions for insect activity. We are seeing a notable increase in pest pressure—primarily aphids and shield bugs—throughout the valley.

The sustained heat is also elevating the risk of quality challenges, including tip burn, dehydration, and sunscald. Mitigation measures remain fully active across all operations to manage both insect pressure and heat-related stress. However, we anticipate continued variability in supply and quality until the transition back to northern growing regions is complete.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your Sales Representative.

Thanks,
