As we move through the final weeks of the Salinas season, we want to keep you informed on current conditions and what to expect:

  • Quality Challenges: Many commodities are experiencing quality issues due to seasonal transitions. While all items shipped will remain within spec, some may show higher tolerance levels than usual. Shelf life may also be impacted, so we recommend maintaining tighter inventories to help manage product rotation effectively.
  • Industry-Wide Impact: These challenges are not isolated - they’re being felt across the industry. Please communicate this with your teams and customers to help set expectations.
  • Transition Reminder: As we prepare for the move to Yuma, we kindly ask for orders to be placed ahead of time. This will help ensure a smooth transition and accurate fulfillment. We’ll keep you updated as things progress.

Market Snapshot:

  • Iceberg: Market dipped recently, but tight Salinas supply, Huron ending, and Yuma just starting suggest a rebound is likely.
  • Romaine: Still tight.
  • Broccoli: Loosening up, but availability remains limited.
  • Green Leaf: Also tight.
  • Arugula: Extra attention needed - please plan accordingly.
