Imported Grapes
Imported Grapes
Thurs, Jan. 2nd, 2025
Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
Green Grapes:
- Current Supply: Tight due to light arrivals during the holidays.
- Demand: Exceeds supply.
- Outlook: Expect better availability by mid to late this week as containers arrive on both coasts.
Red Grapes:
- Domestic Reds: Almost finished and are too old to depend on.
- Imported Reds:
- Peru's supply from the Ica district is running lighter than expected, leading to tighter supply.
- Expect red grape supply to become tighter this week as Peru fades out and Chile's shipments aren't ready yet.
- Break Bulk Shipments: Chilean break bulk vessels will start arriving after January 15, which should help stabilize the supply of reds and provide both volume and stability to the market.
Overall Market Situation:
- The market is in tight supply across both red and green grapes, with demand exceeding supply.
- Port strikes on the east coast will have more impact on container loads than on break bulk shipments.
- Supply disruptions are expected to ease and return to normal by early February.
