Limes
Limes
Wed, Jan. 8th, 2025
Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
Heavy rainfall in Martínez de la Torre, Mexico, has disrupted lime harvesting and packing, creating significant challenges in the market. Rising costs in Mexico are further impacting the U.S. supply chain. As the transition to a new crop begins, expect a shift toward smaller-sized fruit, with limited availability of larger sizes. Adverse weather may also result in quality issues during transit, and further price increases are likely as February approaches.
Key Updates:
- Rain has delayed harvesting and may lead to quality issues, such as oil spots and transit defects.
- Smaller fruit is dominating the new crop, with limited supply of larger sizes contributing to rising prices.
- Some shippers are sourcing offshore Colombian fruit to help meet demand.
- Please submit orders with a 48-hour lead time to ensure supply availability and order fulfillment.
Market Outlook: Higher prices are expected as we approach February.
