Strawberries
Strawberries
Mon, Feb 2nd, 2026
Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
Florida is experiencing the coldest temperatures seen in the region in more than 15 years, with freezing conditions expected to continue over the next several days. This weather event is already impacting strawberry production and is expected to significantly affect fill rates on orders from Florida.
Overnight temperatures are forecasted to remain in the 30s through tonight and tomorrow night. During these freeze events, growers are required to run water for crop protection, which can still result in fruit damage and force crews to remove affected berries from the plants. Even once temperatures improve, this process will delay harvest recovery.
As a result, we anticipate ongoing production challenges and reduced strawberry volumes from Florida that may persist for the next 7–14 days.
Recommendations & Considerations:
- Increased demand is expected in both Texas and California due to reduced Florida availability.
- Please place orders as early as possible to allow shippers to align supply and help maximize coverage.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your Sales Representative.
Thanks,
Ole Tyme Produce
